HISTORY OF AJMER DARGAH

Syed Ali Dujana Gurdezi serves as a prominent Khuddam e Khwaja at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, one of the most sacred Sufi shrines in India. Centuries have passed, years have flowed by, yet our devotion towards the holy shrine of Khawaja Garib Nawaz (r.a.) has only deepened. Our Gurdezi Chishty family, being the recent generation of Gaddinashins (keyholders of the blessed shrine’s keys), has been engaged in serving the holy shrine for over 800 years, passing this sacred duty from generation to generation. Holding the esteemed responsibility as the keyholder of the holy shrine, Syed Ali Dujana Gurdezi exemplifies unwavering devotion and dedication to the service of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishtiy (r.a). Syed Ali Dujana Gurdezi, as a follower of this profound legacy and a successor of the recent family of Gaddinashins actively participates in every facet of dargah-related matters, ensuring the smooth functioning and preservation of its spiritual sanctity. His role is pivotal in maintaining the shrine's operations, overseeing rituals, and upholding the traditions that make Ajmer Sharif a beacon of spiritual solace for devotees worldwide. Our spiritual lineage of the Chishtiyya order represents an unbroken chain of transmitted knowledge that traces back to the Islamic prophet Hazrat Muhammad (saw) through one of his companions, Hazrat Ali (as), the father of Sufism. Today, the dargah of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti continues to be one of the most popular sites of religious visitation in the Indian subcontinent.
